Objective: The aim of the study was to evaluate surgical characteristics proximal femoral nail and dynamic hip screw stabilisation for intertrochanteric fractures. Methods: After ethical approval from institutional review board, this randomized controlled trial, conducted at Orthopaedic Department, Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre, Karachi, 29th July 2018 28th January 2019 through non-probability consecutive sampling, 100 participants were recruited present study. Type II Intertrochanteric Fractures: Proximal Femoral Nailing (PFN) Versus Dynamic Hip Screw(DHS)
Background: Intertrochanteric fracture is one of the most common fractures of the hip especially in the elderly with osteoporotic bones, usually due to low-energy trauma like simple falls. Dynamic Hip Screw (DHS) is still considered the gold standard for treating intertrochanteric fractures by many. Not many studies compare the DHS with Proximal femoral nail (PFN), in Type II intertrochanteri...

BACKGROUND The aim of this meta-analysis was to compare the outcomes of proximal femoral nail (PFN) and dynamic hip screw (DHS) in treatment of intertrochanteric fractures. MATERIAL AND METHODS Relevant randomized or quasi-randomized controlled studies comparing the effects of PFN and DHS were searched for following the requirements of the Cochrane Library Handbook. Six eligible studies invol...

Background: At present, there is no consensus on an appropriate treatment modality for intertrochanteric fractures in the elderly with background diseases. The aim of the present study was to compare treatment outcomes of intertrochanteric fractures reduced with dynamic hip screws (DHS) and bipolar hemiarthroplasty in elderly patients with background medical conditions. Methods: In this randomi...

Introduction: Proximal Femoral Nail and Dynamic Hip Screw, both are the accepted implants for the internal fixation of Pertrochanteric fractures. Objectives of the research were to compare the results of proximal femoral nail and dynamic hip screw in terms of functional mobility of the patients and the results would also be compared in terms of operating time, peri-operative blood loss, radiolo...

Numerous internal fixation devices have been used to stabilize intertrochanteric fracturesWe have analyzed the results of the intertrochanteric fractures treated with dynamic hip screw fixation. 33 patients (13 males, 20 females) were included. Range of age was 50-90 years, right side involved in 21 cases whereas left side in 12 cases and classified according to Boyd and griffin classification ...
